American Three-toed Woodpecker

Description: An uncommon and local resident, easiest to find at large burns 1-10 years old. More regular, however, in high-quality spruce-fir habitat, often just below treeline. Can be detected at a distance during the breeding season by its distinctive drumming pattern.
